Back in the saddle.

April 24th, 2007

Whuff! I’ve been AWOL for a while due to demands at work and in various other areas, but I’m finding time to become active here once again. “Thank you”s go out especially to Tania and Angee for their props. :-)

The debt situation continues to improve for me. My judgment will be paid off next month, which will be a huge yoke off my neck. I’ve got another lawsuit coming up, but these people — Portfolio Recovery Associates, by the way, a group that is not very reputable — have repeatedly refused my verification requests, so dealing with them shouldn’t be too problematic.

My only concern right now is that work is starting to get rough… due to certain disabilities that I have, I have a lot of problems in the workplace, and that’s starting to become a concern. I’m working on it, though.

Introduction

February 26th, 2007

This is long overdue, but life has been rather hectic for the past couple of weeks. I’m still a little pressed for time and will be for the rest of the week or so, but I did want to at least introduce myself: I live in the Metro DC area and got into some serious financial trouble due to a long (eighteen month) period of unemployment. I am now in the process of rebuilding my life. It’s slow going, but I’m making progress.

Through this blog and my posts on the YesDebtFree forums, I hope to pass along the wisdom I’ve gained from others, particularly regarding how to deal with collection agencies. What others have taught me helped a tremendous amount in getting me started on turning my life around, and I’m very grateful to those who helped me. I feel a strong desire to “pay it forward”. I saw a comic strip once in which one of the characters said that help is something that you can’t repay… you can only pass it along. So true.
